About Us/FAQ

Mid-Cornwall Galleries was established in 1980 and is one of the largest and most respected retailers of contemporary arts and crafts in the West Country.

Housed in a former Victorian School and located on the A390 east of St Austell, it’s just a stone’s throw from the Eden Project, Charlestown and Fowey.

Here you’ll find outstanding paintings, etchings, ceramics, blown and formed glass, jewellery, woodwork, prints and metalwork as well as many other wonderfully made pieces. We also stock a large selection of cards and gift wrap.

For nearly forty years art has been our passion, but despite our decades as curators, we are still regularly amazed by the diversity and talent of our artists.

Visit us today to purchase some of the finest original artwork in the country!

Is Mid Cornwall Galleries wheelchair accessible?

Yes. We have an alternate entrance suitable for wheelchairs.

Is there an entry fee?

No. Mid Cornwall Galleries is a retail outlet and does not charge for entry.

Do you have a car park?

Yes. We have our own car park. It’s open during business hours and is free for gallery customers.

Can I order via telephone?

Absolutely. If you’d prefer not to place an order via the website, you can call the gallery on 01726 812131. We’ll answer any questions you might have, take payment and organise delivery for you.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. Our website is currently set up for UK sales only but we do ship artwork all over the world. If you’d like to make a purchase from overseas, please contact us and we can discuss shipping method/cost etc.

What are your P&P charges?

Charges range from £5 – £80 and are determined by the weight/size and type of product you wish to purchase. Once you’ve placed your item(s) in the cart these charges can be calculated by entering your county and post code and clicking ‘Calculate Shipping’. You can also opt to collect your items from the gallery free of charge.

Smaller items (jewellery/small ceramics) will be sent via Royal Mail but most items (paintings/prints/larger ceramics etc) are sent using our courier.

We ship artwork with the utmost care. Whenever necessary, we double box fragile items to ensure safe delivery.

All parcels are tracked and must be signed for.

Can I pay for something in instalments?

Mid-Cornwall Galleries is a member of the Arts Council ‘Own Art’ scheme so many of our exhibits can be paid for in instalments. For more information please visit the Own Art Scheme page.

Do you have a mailing list?

Yes. If you’d like to be kept informed of upcoming events or new work by specific artists then please contact us and we can add you to the relevant Mid-Cornwall Galleries mailing list.

You can ask to be removed at any time.

How accurate are the images on your website?

We try very hard to make sure all images are as accurate as possible but we cannot guarantee total accuracy because their appearance is also dependant on the screen used to view them. Colour, contrast and brightness levels may vary from screen to screen. Please bear this in mind when viewing any online artwork.

Does Mid Cornwall Galleries purchase artwork?

No. We source paintings etc directly from the artists themselves and do not purchase work from third parties. If you have artwork you wish to sell, your best bet would be to contact a fine art auctioneer.

I'm an artist wanting to exhibit. How do I apply?

Artists can e-mail us a CV and a small selection of images that best represent your work. Include any details of current gallery affiliations.

Most of the time we’re simply not physically able to accommodate new work so please don’t take it personally if you’re not successful!

Please note: All artist submissions are viewed but the sheer number of applicants means it’s almost impossible to respond to each and every one.

If the product listing is incorrect. We may also cancel any orders we deem to be suspicious. Should we need to cancel an order and payment has already been made by the customer, it will be refunded and a reason for the cancellation will be given.

Returns & Refunds

Unwanted Items* Purchased ‘In Store’ – Mid Cornwall Galleries will provide a credit note for unwanted items, not a refund. If you decide you no longer want the item(s) purchased, please return them to the gallery within 5 working days along with your proof of purchase. Items will be inspected and if found to be in their original condition a credit note will be issued.

Unwanted Items* Purchased Online or via Telephone – If you decide you no longer want the item(s) purchased, please notify the gallery within 14 days of receipt of your order. A telephone call between customer and gallery will be required to discuss the return (shipping method/packaging/cost etc). The cost of return will be incurred by the customer. Items must be returned in their original packaging (or packaging of equivalent quality) using a tracked/signed for/insured shipping method. A refund will be given only when the item has reached the gallery and been inspected to ensure it is still in it’s original condition. IMPORTANT NOTE: Responsibility for the safe return of unwanted items lies with the customer. Shipping artwork can be expensive and more often than not has to be done using specialist couriers because many others will not insure original artwork. Please be absolutely confident in your choice of artwork before ordering. If in any doubt, please contact the gallery for advice and assistance.

*Exclusions – Earrings cannot be returned for hygiene reasons. Commissions and any other form of personalised product made at a customer’s request cannot be returned. For example – A painting made to specific dimensions or of a specific subject matter.

Damaged Items – Customers must inform the gallery within 48 hours of receipt of your order if items have sustained damage during shipping. A clear photograph of the damage will need to be submitted and a telephone call between customer and gallery will be required to arrange for the return of any damaged items. The gallery will incur the cost of the return.

Descriptions – All sizes listed on this website are approximate.

Images – While the gallery tries hard to use an image that accurately represents each piece of artwork, we cannot guarantee total accuracy because their appearance is also largely dependant on the screen used to view them. Colour, contrast and brightness levels may vary widely from screen to screen.
