New Paintings by Daniel Cole
We've just added seven gorgeous new paintings to Daniel's page, including the amazing 'The Tide Pushes in Over the Sand', pictured here. Enjoy!
Dan's background lies in illustration and after a Foundation Course at Falmouth he went on to study Scientific Illustration at Blackpool College of Art. After leaving there in 1988 and having won a Readers Digest travel prize, he decided to spend the three months in Brazil where his sole aim was to watch and sketch the birds. Since that time he has been on many field trips to India, Nepal, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Indonesia to capture images through sketching for his own enjoyment and for his work.
New Work by Christy Keeney
Born in Ireland, Christy moved to London in 1984 to study ceramics at the Royal College of Art. After spending 17 years there, he returned to his native Donegal where he now lives and works.
Of his inspiration, Christy says - "I visited a retrospective exhibition of Picasso in the early 80s when I was at college, and many of my influences came from seeing that work. Especially a collection of small cardboard cutout and folded, figurative sculptures. These simple two dimensional pieces opened a world of possibilities on how I would approach my own work."
New Paintings by Tamara Williams
We're delighted to welcome the incredible Tamara Williams to Mid Cornwall Galleries!
Tamara originally studied Graphic Design at Kingston and spent 30 years running her own design agency in London before revisiting the printmaking and painting she so loved at art college; experimenting with different textures and mark-making by working directly onto plaster, wood and natural materials.
Her design background informs and influences each piece, from a love of composition and visual space to the energy and freedom of abstract line work.
New Paintings by Lucy Almey Bird
A new collection of paintings by the fantastic Lucy Almey Bird has been added to the website.
Born in 1973, Lucy grew up in rural Somerset. She was always encouraged to draw and paint from an early age and was taken on regular trips to galleries and museums, which ignited her passion for art. Lucy is completely self-taught, having not taken the conventional route through education.
She paints mostly in acrylics and takes inspiration from everyday life - especially her three daughters. Domestic scenes feature regularly in her paintings, depicting a romanticised, gentler look at life.
New Paintings by Amanda Hoskin
Landscapes, seascapes and still lifes - we have a beautiful selection of original oil paintings to kick off 2024 in style!
Amanda's early career was spent working as a wildlife illustrator but an interest in painting other subject matters began to grow. She experimented with various techniques and mediums, working in a more expressive and fluid way. Paying close attention to detail of light, Amanda soon found her own impressionistic style that her work is known for today.
